We Choose Art: A Feminist Perspective 2019

A Feminist Perspective was curated by Baha Danesh in the Mezz Gallery at The Montalbán Theatre in 2019.

The exhibition documented the vibrant and creative culture of modern feminist artists. Kelly Thompson exhibited two paintings from her "Garment" series.

The show included both male and female artists whose works continue the feminist dialogue of equality for all. The work presented spans over 40 years with a diversity of artists working in the Los Angeles area. The featured artists are showing works that deal with concepts of race, class, culture, politics, social commentary, and representation of women.

Panelists: Artist and Moderator Kristine Schomaker from Shoebox PR, Lina Lecaro from LA Weekly, Jen DiSisto from Art Duet, Afro-Futurist Performance Artist Karine Fleurima, Feminist Painter Donna Bates and Community Advocate / Trauma-Informed therapist Elizabeth Tobias; who will be screening "SURVIVOR! A Short Film created by Artists who have been victimized by violence and affected by the trauma of sexual assault.
